Laura Brodsky is a photographer and poet whose work explores themes of human interaction, the past, places, and emotions. Born in Brooklyn, New York, she grew up on Long Island and is a graduate of Queens College, City University of New York. She attended The Art Students League in NYC studying life drawing under the artist, Will Barnet. Her style reflects traditional landscape, portrait studies and classic street photography. Brodsky's particular inspirations are the works of the photographer, ruth Orkin and the Photo League photographers of the nineteen forties and fifties. Her work has been chosen for exhibit in the capital districts annual Photo regional several years in a row and was awarded first prize in 2020. Brodsky relocated to upstate New York in 1987 and resides in Downtown Albany with her wife, Wendy and their beloved wire fox terrier, Lulu.
